Have any of you Northern Ontario maple guys heard anything about Swingpure. He has not posted anything since last March. I know he was located in the Parry Sound area. It just seems funny that he would not post anything after all the comments he had previously made.

I haven’t heard from him. I know a few years ago he had health issues then scaled back his operation. I hope he is well and just stopped making syrup.
2021 - Year one. 15 taps using 5/16" and drop tube into buckets. Homemade barrel evaporator with 2 steam trays.
    2022. 32 taps. Added AUF.
2023. 51 taps. Ditched the steam pans for an 18x22 flat pan.
2024. 56 taps. Built a proper evaporator to fit the 18x22 flat pan and 1 steam pan.
    2025. 62 taps.

Just got the replacement part delivered today. Have 950L in the tank and the RO is humming along. No leaks and we are back to making syrup. I will let it concentrate overnight and boil it off tomorrow afternoon. I still have another 220 trees to tap. Should be nice and firm in the bush tomorrow morning. Easy walking. No need for the snowshoes.
do you run sap multiple times in your RO?

Just run the concentrate back into your raw sap tank. A lot of large producers do this as well - they recirculate until their sap tank is 5 Brix and then take it to 25 or 30. It's difficult, but not impossible, to get low Brix sap from 1.5 to high brix in a single pass.

Yeah. I recirc the sap back into the cubie. I have built a 4x40 system with a pre filter, a ss procon pump and last year I added a UV filter to extend the shelf life of the sap. I typically run the system at 120-150psi which give me good bypass to wash the sugars off the membrane. At these pressures I am pulling 125 to 150 L/h of water out of the sap. I personally only bring my sugars up to 10% because I like the full flavour better then when I have run it up to 30%. Some of the big guys in the area are running sugars up to 50+% before it hits the pan. I can do that because my fuel is totally free, so I still make good profit even with the longer boil times. Designed a used veggie oil rocket engine that powers the 2x8 flat bottomed D&G pans.

I guess the short answer is Yes, I put the sap back into the tank as the RO is running.

Going to pull taps today as the weather has not been as favorable as last year for drop tubes to buckets. I will have my final boil tomorrow while cleaning and tally up my final results. Still have a good (or bad) amount of ice in the bush and cool temps. which kept things frozen up until the past couple days.

I’m boiling what I have left right now then shutting it down. I’m down from last year in sap flow with more trees than last year.

Yep. I'm way down from last year. Very surprising. I will collect the last run from today -3 last night +6 this afternoon. Then it is time to clean it all up. A few years ago I was still going strong and pulled the taps on May 6. Was still drowning in sap but ran out of fuel.
