gathered 100 gal from 200 taps. Weather needs to freeze again, never thought I would have to say that. Three days without a freeze .

I pulled off about 15 gallons from 30 taps. Boiled it down far enough to sweeten the pan and let the fire go out.We need the freeze thaw cycle the lying weathermen promised.

Pulled a gallon of syrup, but flues in pan are still full. when are not going to freeze til monday. Boiling on an evaporator is alot better than last year.

Is this about the time you get going in IN. We did a test boil the other day to see how my changes would work. Wasn't sap but I could have sat there all day and watched water boil.

Where I'm located we don't get much in march 1 week if we're lucky. The weather man said upper 20s to mid 40s for two week. Its been 40s with no freeze.

isn't January where you are. I'm being ambitious putting mine out the middle of February.

It's officially started if one of us has made a gallon of syrup already.

The first gallon has been made in Indiana.

It won't be long now for the rest of us. I saw a sign that said 62 days until spring.

We'll all be started by then.

I started this past weekend, too. Not much action, as I started about a day later than I should have. I began tapping 2 years ago with only 15 taps, then increased to 29 last year. I built a new evaporator last year with a nice stainless pan and plan to hit 70 taps this year. Yeah, I'm hooked.

Frozen up all day. Looks like this weekend should be great. Looking forward to the first boil on my 6yr. old's birthday. Not sure that's what he was expecting, but it'll be grand.

Next week looks good, but weatherman has said the same thing the last two weeks. Hope he's right this time.
