First timer tapped in Sparta

My first time tapping today. I hung 9 milk jugs today on seasonal spouts this afternoon. From what I have read, the weather appears to be ideal for tapping. 40s during day and 20s at night. So the addiction has started, I want more trees. These will do for this year. Go slow to go fast.

Same here,tapped Wednesday and a few yesterday but little flow.

Sap ran slow today, 25 gallons or so, not enough to pump yet, hope the weekend delivers, itchin to boil!

Good hearing from other local people.

I boiled my first batch yesterday. 12 taps...20 gallons...8 pints, and went through a pint at breakfast this morning. Looks like a need more taps and a more efficient evaporator.

you got 8 pints of syrup out of 160 pints of sap????

Nice catch Eustis. I got 4 pints or half a gallon. I was thinking 8 because the jars I got are half pints, so I filled 8 jars. These are all new numbers to learn.

SAP is running. I got 10 gallons from my 12 taps today.
