Anyone out there with a 2x6

I currently have a half pint evaporator and am thinking about moving up to a 2x6. I would like to visit someone in central or southern Indiana with a 2x6 and see how its run. Preferably with a drop flu pan.

I have about 130 taps and my rig just isnt made for that kind of flow. So far this year we have made 20 gallons of syrup but are really having to put in lots of hours.

Phil, I have a 24X60 drop flue and I will be boiling all day tomorrow. I'm a couple of miles south of I-70 at the ILL. state line.
Just south of West Terre Haute.

We can push 30-35 gallons per hour when shes hot.

I have not really checked it, but if you keep the fire hot, it can boil around 25+ GPH. My pan is a 2x3. It might be for sale soon.....

Evaporation rate I think is 2.5 gal per square foot. 2x6=12x2.5= 30 gal per hour. I get real close to that with 2x6 with 3' drop flue. Sap level has a lot to do with evaporation rate also.

depends slightly on the rig. with my 2x6 with a 4ft drop flue pan stock average 33-35 gph added forced air this year big difference I can get 42-43 gph average depending on moisture of wood although not sure why its called a wood saver because you go through more wood!!! :( . you can go REALLY crazy and invest in a steam away that will get you another 20 gph. but it would be better to go with just an RO which I will be doing for next year.
