Looking at the forecast, and the last couple years feburary's temps....I came to the conclusion that we are having Feb's weather now....so I've taking a gamble and hung all 36 of my buckets yesturday....woke up this morning to 20 gallons waiting for me several bucktes were about to spill over(sugar % between 1.5-1.8% couple around 2% and a couple less than 1.5%)...some buckets had very little.....temps are falling now but a dozen taps are still dripping, hoping to have another gallon or two before they freeze shut for a few days then its back on by Monday....first boil will probably be Tuesday...hope the forecasts hold true

Sap is running good this morning...gallon to gallon and a half an hour....testing 1.9-2.2%...combined sap in my holding tank is measuring 2.1.....I'm boiling Tues. morning

I had 35 gallons on 22 taps this morning. Judging from the forecast, I may be all in on 90-100 taps as of Thursday (would be sooner, but will be out of town). I am not saying that's the right decision because I am a newbie. But...it's the best I can deduct from the temps. If I'm wrong, I'll just move to different trees later.

Yea that's my plan too, if/when the tree I'm on dry out I'll move to some other ones....I couldn't have picked a worse year weather wise to get back into this.
