So far we have pulled 40 gallons of sap. the weathermen are lying sobs,Today they are flowing very heavy. probably already a quart per bag on most trees since we dumped them at 9 am.

What did they do today? We hit 60 here and it was 23 this AM at sunrise. I have not tapped yet her in IL. every time I tap this early it bites me. with the exception of one year that was our record year- roll eyes

It's been hit & miss here in Bloomington, an hour south of Indianapolis. Have 22 taps out (tapped a few at a time over the last ten days) and have collected about 80 gallons so far. Our backyard silver has given 6 gallons on 3 taps, and our neighbor's sugar has given us 24 gallons on two taps. The 17 taps at the historic site have given about 50 gallons. Go figure that a single tree has given nearly a third of the total in only 6 days.

Next week looks better according to long term forecast, but who knows. Don't think I'll be able to tap in Kentucky this year.

I thought I'd be overloaded with sap the last two days, but haven't been. I only got about 15 gallons on 90 taps. That's OK though - I had a catastrophic failure on my evaporator top and have to get a new one fabricated. I'd be a nervous wreck if I'd had a mega-run.
I've made two gallons so far, but that was when I only had about 40 taps in.
