:) my first year--I had 14 trees tapped, got about 120 gallons of sap over the 4+ weeks since February 16, and finished (last night) 12 quarts. I might have gotten a few more gallons from the trees, but the weather has turned warm, and the other chores are starting to stack up.
Have all sorts of plans for next year; this year my evaporator was primitive, of blocks and old stovepipe (and it went through 4 versions to improve efficiency), and I spent a lot of time spliltting and gathering wood during boils, and fighting with the arch to keep pans boiling. Since I have been clearing land this is not really an effort--gotta do something while watching things boil. but next year the evaporator and pans will be better, and since I have been passing out samples I have been locating more trees (even though I only tapped about a third of my own this year).
Anyone know of a source for labels I can personalize and print on my laser that have a good enough glue to stay stuck to glass?
