Put out 240 taps friday 1/28/11. Collected 325 gallons 1/29/11. Collected 455 gallons 1/30/11. Sugar content ranged from 2.0 to 2.2. Every thing looks good in to tuesday of this week, then....who knows???

Good to get started again, wasn't it?? We are expecting either a bunch of rain, a bunch of ice, a bunch of snow, or a bunch of all three on Tuesday.

It's a fever matt! Every year it gets worse. Each year--more taps, more trees, bigger evaporator , tubing?, more heat, more storage...on an on it goes---will it ever end. Some guy on the "trader" signs with "old sugarmakers never die they just evaporate". You know i think he is probably right! ...or the wife says "hey, we need to buy groceries--can't live just on maple syrup"...(i wonder.......)

Thats a good one....
Yeah, each year we do a little more. Just built a "sugar shack" of sorts and already want it to be bigger. It never ends.

to old guy, you put some taps out fri. and in 2 days got over 700 gal sap? if i'm doing the math correct youv'e already got like 4 gal per avg. tap and hopefully the season is young. what is your season avg per tap. where are you at in ind. i'm in the northern part and were froze solid, however does sound encouraging for this season compared to last, here anyways. CAN'T WAIT!!!!
