Description:
Up for sale is a 4 year old CDL Hobby 250 RO. It is in great condition. It will come with 3 membranes. The primary pump motor is new this year. We bought this unit new. It ran perfect for us...until the we finished a long day of boiling and failed to drain it. It froze and we came back 2 days later to find the membranes frozen and the filter frozen. That day was our last day due to the end of the season (I hoped the 2 day freeze would buy us a little more boiling time, but it did not and we made 104 gallons that year. Long story short we bought 2 new membranes as one was damaged and the other would be suspect. During the next year we experienced a problem with the primary pump. We bought a rebuilt pump and then were given two rebuilt pumps. Our dealer (awesome by the way) took the unit to go through it and gave us a used one to run to finish off the year. They found nothing wrong and decided rebuilt pumps were not the way to go. We have a new pump on it now. In speaking with the dealer we learned they are recommending a small heat lamp to help prevent solid freeze ups (even with draining it). You can see the 1" thermax and heat lamp in the image. The temps never got below 35 degrees according to the temp sensor on the unit. We had all three membranes cleaned and tested by CDL last year and have the data sheet to show the history since new on the original membrane. In the end we are upgrading to a CDL 600 unit and this unit is ready to go at the end of this year (almost any day now). It has been a work horse over the years. The first year was about 300-325 taps on a sap puller. The next three were about 400 on full vacuum. The first year we made 65 gallons of syrup and averaged 100 the last three all on a 2x6 evaporator. This is a great unit for those with 300 plus taps. We are looking to go to 1000-1200 and want to cut our time in the sugarhouse down. If you have questions or want specific pictures let me know. I am asking $3,800.00 and it will come with the three membranes and all accessories. the membranes will be storage solution in pvc tubes. Thank you, Mike

The unit is still available. We finished this year with it and are stepping up to a larger unit for next year. It ran great. We made just under 100 gallons of syrup this year.

------------------------------
Tapping since 1985 (four generations back to early to mid 1900s). 200-250 taps on buckets and then tubing in the mid 90s. 2013- 275 taps w/sap puller 25 gal. 2014-295 taps w/sap puller 55 ga. (re-tapped to vacuum theory) 2015-330 taps full vac. 65 gal, 2016-400 taps 105 gal, 2017-400 taps 95 gal. 2018-additional 800' mainline and maybe 400 new taps for a total near 800 taps. 2x6 Leader WSE (last year on it) supported by a 250 gph RO.
