History and practice of making maple syrup in the USA.   My family came to America in 1650 to New London CT.  Our family has been making maple syrup since they first learned how from the local native Americans.

This book has many historical articles from magazines and books in the 1700s and 1800s as well as many very old recepies for maple syrup and sugar cooking.   Also, it has many many photos old and newer of syrup making.   Mixed in are stories from the past 60 years I have been making syrup in Wisconsin.

Did you know that Thomas Jefferson endorsed making maple sugar in the 1790s as a way to help rid dependence on slave made cane sugar?   This collection has something for everyone, and is quite inexpensive.
