Default Attention Fall Tappers

The sap was running today. I was out surveying today and any of the small maple saplings that were cut recently off were leaking sap this morning when the temperature warmed.

Somewhere about 750 taps on gravity tubing and 50 buckets.

600 gal stainless milk tank.

3' x 10' Waterloo Raised Flue wood fired evaporator w/ open pans.

Gather with GMC 3500 2wd Pickup w/ 425 gallon Plastic Tank.

Been tapping here in Lyman NH since 1989 but I've been sugaring since 8 years old in 1968.

You would be correct sir test buckets had sap in them. Problem being another warm spell later this week.

Question when you say sap how much sap we talking about.

150 taps instead of the 30 planned for. Hmmmmm
Plans to expand to a few more if possible.
I just might be crazy.( make that I know I am)
Time to start working on Maple.

Ken I have 5 test taps out and I bet there was a gallon in each maybe a little more. As soon as I get this buck processed and in the freezer Im gonna put about 150 more out and see what happens. I will keep you posted.

3rdgen keep us posted on the fall sap. we are suppose to be getting some colder weather at the end of this week down here so I may tap a few culls to see what I get.
