WV Update: most producers report record season. Maybe the departed Mark Bowers (220 maple) was able to sway the maple weather gods to shine on WV this year?
Was one of those winters of yesteryear! (had over 150" of snow so far where I am)
The regional CDL rep Brandon Daniels reported his all time record season that lasted 9 weeks!! I am higher elevation and colder so started later and only 6 weeks in but still going as the good lord permits. The largest producer in the state (Spruce Knob Maple) is still going most likely also due to their elevation and micro-climate also. Heading out to collect sap, last time was wednesday and it made delicious amber. will keep boiling till it tastes buddy!!

3/29 was the last boil. stil made good tasting syrup. there was Just no more freezing on the horizon. Peepers been wailing since then also! Think the biggest producer in state wrapped it up the same time also. Great season. first sap ran here was Feb 4th, the last was 3/29

Our trees are popped here in hardy county(4/8/25). The season was super long, however between a broken releaser and a burned out motor on my vacuum pump i wasn't able to take advantage of it. There is always next season, a little wiser, and a little more prepared.
2024 - 57 Gallons - Short season, many and varied problems remedied in short order! - No buckets!
2023 - 38 Gallons - RO broke, Buckets didn't run, rebuilt vacuum pump mid-season, still made good syrup!
2022 - 52 Gallons - DIY RO, 50% less fuel, no late nights in the shack!
2021 - 48 Gallons - new pans, new arch, lots of new taps and tubing
    2020 - 32 Gallons
    2019 - 27 Gallons
