Here we sit and wait. 1 moment the long range forecast looks favorable and then a day later, not so much. I might tap at the end of this week but maybe the week after. I feel like the longer we have to wait past early March the shorter the season will be. Mother Nature knows what’s best.

Yeah, I got totally fooled by the long range and the fact that I missed the best run of the year last year…. Ahh well, it will run eventually.

I would have tapped this weekend but wouldn't be able to get sap out of woods and back to sugarshack with the amount of snow in woods and field

We started tapping in Hinsdale yesterday. We have about 150 taps to go. Snow is deep in the hollow. We tapped in snow up to above our knees in spots. Our bush is north facing so we probably won’t get much sap right away. The frozen ground isn’t going to help either. The good news is that we usually get a few extra days at the end of the season. Wishing everyone a prosperous season.

Profoundly disappointed. Either my trees haven’t thawed out yet or something is wrong. I’ve collected maybe 10 gallons on 100ish taps yesterday and today. Anyone else around not seeing much despite the temps?
