For those that use the 5 and 7.75 gallon Sankey style kegs LIKE THIS ONE, is it simply a matter of removing the tube in the middle with the ball and putting a sanitary fitting and clamp on the opening. I'm looking to hot pack in stainless and move away from the plastic 5g barrels I'm using now.

I did several of these this year. You need to remove the sanky valve and cut down the neck so you can weld a tri clamp ferrel on. The SS tube on the ferrel slides inside the neck on the barrel. It helps if you can cut it down to within 1/2 inch or less to the top of the barrel so the ferrel can rest on the lip inside. It is best if welded there inside if possible. Smoky Lake has the fittings on their website.

You don't need to cut and weld anything. Just get these gaskets: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07V2KMCLH...t_details&th=1

One side is flat and the other side has the lip to match a 2" sanitary cap.

That would be amazing. I think I've reached my limit of dropping grades in plastic.

I have a few breweries in my area (lucky me). Did you reach out to them to see what they had or did the one by you post that they had used kegs for sale? How much did you pay if you don't mind me asking.

Also, the way around the posting pics is to share a link from your Google Photos folder or whatever phot app you use. I'm very interested in the dispenser you fabricated.

    Thanks for the responses, btw!

I just searched Craigs list and Marketplace to find mine. For the 13.2 or 15.5 gallon, I payed $40 to $5 apiece.

I explored CL and EBay, but it hadn't occurred to me to check the classifieds here or Marketplace. Good info, thanks.

They can go quickly, I had one ad I stumbled on that had 5-5 gallon and 7 13 to 15 gallons kegs, I bought them all.
