    Default Tubing calculation

What is the formula to calculate the gallons of sap in X size of tubing by the foot? Thanks
Remember to keep on ticking while the sap is dripping.
    2016- 50 buckets. Made 4 gallons.
    2022- 3750 taps + Smartrek! Made 1300 gallons.
2023- 3750 taps after removing a pump house and connected two woods. Made 800 gallons.
    2024- 3750 taps 1384 made.

    https://www.calculator.net/volume-calculator.html

Volume of a cylinder. Radius is half the diameter.

    5/16 radius is 5/32 = 0.15625

    3/16 radius is 3/32 = 0.09375

Just remember that sap in tubing has gas bubbles in between it. Sap in your mainline should never be full if it's on a good grade.

I used the above calculations for my 700' and 800' pumplines though and its accurate. 18 gallons of sap weighs around 150 lbs!

    Hope this helps,

    Ben

If your tubing is full (only possible with a wet/dry system) you need larger tubing.
Dave Klish, I recently bought a 2x6 wood fired evaporator from A&A Sheet Metal which I will be converting to oil fired
Now have solar, 2x6 finish pan, 5 bank 7x7 filter press, large water jacketed bottler, and tankless water heater.
Recently bought another Gingerich RO, this one was a 125, but a second membrane was added thus is a 250, like I had.
    After running a 2x3, a 2x6, 3x8 tapping from 79 taps up to 1320 all woodfired, now I'm going to a 2x6 oil fired and a 200-425 taps.

Thanks, I was trying to calculate what size tank I'd need in my pump house to gather back flow.

Not sure if this is helpful at this point but this is the formula I came up with:

    # of gallons = [pi*(d/24)2*x]/0.134

d is tubing diameter in inches
x is length of tubing in feet
.134 is conversion factor between cubic feet and gallons
    60ish taps on buckets
