This coming weekend (Jan 19-23, 2017) in the mid-Hudson valley looks pretty amazing... lows are around 30º, highs around 45º. Anyone in the area testing a few taps?

1,000 taps in west of you in ulster county. Made 25 gals Friday and should start again Wednesday.
Last year was my first year tapping and I tapped January 25th. I knew it was earlier than usual but the forecast looked right and I was eager so I went for it. Turned out to be the right time. Beginner’s luck.
Now it’s a week earlier than last year and the forecast looks right for the next ten days. I’m going to put the finishing touches on the evaporator and tap. I’m in northern Dutchess county.

I'm in Hillsdale, NY. Always anxious to start, I tapped in late December. I put out 100 taps and had 4 great runs. I have made 19 gallons of syrup so far and the taste of the 2nd (1/3-1/5)and 3rd (1/9-1/12)runs was the best I have ever made. Flavor was buttery. I will put out 100 more taps this week for normal run. Hope you all have a great season!
Patiently waiting till late Feb. Tapped in Jan. last year had a good run then it shut down. Then we got another run and all my buckets had gotten moldy.
