    Default Tapping in Durham

Keeping my eye on the 10 day forecast and it looks like we may be in a good temp cycle starting Jan 22nd. Thinking of tapping next weekend. Spending this weekend getting the equipment cleaned and ready to go.
Durham Sugarhouse started in 2002 with six taps, aluminum foil pans on the BBQ and finishing the syrup on the stove until the steam blew up the microwave above the stove.
    For the 2016 season:
    - Sugarhouse 12'x20'
    - New pump house 2014 12' x 20'
    - 650 Taps on vacuum
    - 2'x 6' Leader evaporator
    - Springtech 200 gph reverse osmosis
    - 2016 - 205 gallons

I tapped in last weekend and I am glad that I did. This is my first year with a vacuum pump and releaser, in the past I had a guzzler. I have been working out bugs, realizing the things that I forgot, and learning some of the important minutia. So better to do it now for me before things get going then missing out on sap because I am redoing my mistakes. Small run yesterday, hopefully a decent one today. Good luck this year,
