    Default Stack Base

I'm in the process of building my 2x4 arch. Do I need the wide stack base as seen on the bigger units? I would like to vent the chimney right out the back similar to the hobby type Masons. I just don't want cold corners on the pan.

Hey 1badsapper - My Grandson welded a box on the back of my 2'x5' to hold an 8" dia. stack and it works just fine.

Thank you, so you don't have the big tapered stack base I take it. That will save me a lot of extra work.

No - I don't have the taper that a factory built arch would have. I use natural draft - but - I do have a grate that I burn my wood on so that air can get under it. If I really want to get it rippin - I leave the ash clean out door open and it gets lots or air for combustion.
