    Question Home Built Evaporator

I'm in the process of building an evaporator. Does the pan sit only above the flat portion of the fire box or over the slanted area as well that goes out to the chimney? I have been in the masonry biz. for 28 years, so I decided to go that route. I have built numerous fire places so I don't worry about some of the problems with home built. Once the design is done I have requests for more.
    Thank You
    Ric Oestreich.

The pan will sit over both. The slanted portion is there to keep the flames right under the pan making it hotter. Try "Googling" Maple evaporator and check out the images to see the general shape of the ones out there.

Great news, found a design, I just wasn't sure on the angle in the arch and how long & steep the angle should be. Got it now. Thanks again, Mike.
