I think this is the first year I concentrated on weeding early in the season my garden is actually producing tons of veggies instead of tons of weeds. but man if you don't go out every few days and weed forget it!!!

yup...I've resorted to using the weedwacker in the pumpkin "patch" (1.5 acres). The garden get more care, but the weeds are still winning.

You guys remind me of when i was a kid. My dad had a huge size garden and never could keep up with it so he planted everything far enough apart he mowed between the veggies with the riding lawnmower. I use a handle with a flat peice of steel sharpened on both edges and bent it into a triangle shape and attached it to the handle. Works slick. I seen them in Home depot a few weeks after I made one.

yeah thats what I use. between the rows works great. " I Bought mine a few years ago"

My brother and I used to be the garden weeders now we're out of the house and my dad gets all his plants in and seeds what ever and the weeds take over!!!

I expaneded the garden this year. and I will make it a bit bigger next year too. mines like 40x50 feet now. with a separate pumpkin patch...but I have had bad luck with pumpkins the past few years. and even this year its not going that great. a few years ago I had great pumpkins but since forget it. even got a 250lb big max. my wife is pissed because I forgot acorn squah this year!!!

2 years ago we did really well with pumpkins. Last year with all of the rain there weren't many bees out until August. I plowed it under Sept 1 and covered it with clover. This year looks to be a whole lot better. Plants are vined out like crazy and there are lots of pumpkins coming.
