Once again late to the party with starting a thread for the season. Here is the summary for the 2025.. I tapped frozen wood on 1/26 ahead of a late January thaw. The thaw didn't last long, I only got to gather sap from those trees 5 times in the first 10 days then it was froze up for the next three weeks. I tapped another woods then at the end of February for what I hoped would be a 5-week run to the end of March. Despite almost no days above freezing in February, it did warm up in March. Too many days in the 60's and above but fortunately, there were also some nice cold nights and some really good sap runs. All taps were pulled by 3/24. Here are the numbers starting at the end of February: Gallons of syrup per tap was 0.35. Gallons of sap per gallon of syrup was 43.5 so the sugar content figured out at 1.98%...just a few more ounces would have got me to 2%.

The syrup filtered well all season, and I never had to scrape the bottom of the pan, only some light scrubbing each time to get it ready for the next boil - nice, it's been a while since I could say that. I'm already planning some improvements for 2026 like putting all my silvers on the same line and adding a flow meter to the hose pumping from the tubing system tank to my sap storage tank...among others.

After sitting in the cold reading about the great sap weather Buckeye Gold and others had in February, I was glad to finally get going. What a blast - looking forward to next year.
