    Default Vac Filter Testing

Getting ready to test a homemade vac filter system. Using 66 Brix table sugar solution is pretty obvious. What would be a good substance to mimic maple sand? Cinnamon? Also, what is the particulate size of maple sand?

It's probably easier to bring a half gallon to a boil for 5 minutes, re-adjust for density and filter the reheated syrup. Bringing it to a boil should cause sugar sand to form.
