Default Need help. Is it lead free solder???

    Hello All,
Recently went to look at a beautiful Lightning evaporator, only problem is the flue pan is soldered and I have no way of knowing if it is lead free. I am aware of the lead test kits but would love to not need to take another hour trip to go look at it again. I have the model and serial number and was hoping someone could help me out with its age/solder type through those. if its any help the pan has a golden sticker. serial # 0737psof and model# 1950

    Thank you.

Which Company should I call as Small Brothers no longer exists?

Here are some pictures. The one of the label isn't actually of the rig I'm looking at, but it is very similar, only difference is it might have been made in the states rather than Canada, I can't remember.

Contact Lapierre, they may have the small brothers records if the pan you're looking at was made in Canada. If it was made in the states there's a chance that CDL might have them, I'm not sure. Some of the Vermont guys that have been around should be able to clarify this.

I have basically the same pans. There are red stickers on mine that have the serial number on them and it says made with lead free solder. There is no mfg. date but I was told they went lead free in the mid 90's.

For a fast answer contact Jerry Dion at Lapierre, Lapierre/Waterloo/Small Inc.. He has been around since the dark ages and should be able to tell you in minutes.

Get a Lead test kid that is used for lead pant and other things, make sure it's not for liquid. That will tell you if it is or not

That would certainly be the most definitive way to know.
