I almost feel guilty for the disappointment expressed by MapleTrader members in New England and Southern Ontario. Record day for me today with an average 1.13 gallons per tape... slightly surpassing last Sunday. Rainy weekend coming up locally and I've already had one cancellation because of it but that's okay. I need the extra time to boil up some syrup for myself and quit entertaining so much. I also now have three neighbours that want me to tap their trees in exchange for a gallon of syrup. Good deal for a commercial set-up but I can't handle, process, or sell that much so right now I'll pass on the offers. Just found out that there's someone locally that simply likes to make syrup and is selling 540 ml cans for 6 bucks. Between that and several big producers on main roads retail just isn't my thing. My niche continues to be tourism... even if it rains from time to time.
