I finally started tapping after work yesterday and got in 245 on tubing. Had some **** mosquitoes while I was tapping. Not much flow but turned on the shurflo pumps and will look for leaks today. I should be ready for next weeks colder forecast.
I was expecting a really strong run today and just checked my taps - nothing. 42 degrees today after 20 last night and nothing.... I ended up emptying buckets that had some dirty rain water from the freezing rain the other day - they were giant ice cubes. It is what it is. Tomorrow is another day. Hope others had better luck.
Had a few gallons today, but the Shurflo had no recirculation sap since we were out of town, so vac wasn't too strong. I test boiled some sap since my silver maple flowers opened on the 20th and the syrup is great. Hoping they really run tomorrow and the sap stays good.

We made 15 gal of syrup during the early run. I'm glad we put in when we did. We're all cleaned up and ready to go again. We went and checked both bushes this aft and things were running slow. I kind of figured that would happen after getting cold for a couple days and all the ice on the trees. Tomorrow should be good.

Sugarpop, how'd yesterday go? Guessing it's still going strong this morning.
Have pulled in nearly 1.4 gpt in the last 24 hours. Test boiled some of that silver sap after work yesterday and it was still good.

Went out and collected 25 gallons today, 14 gallons yesterday, 3 gallons the day before. Looks like we're on the right path. This will be my second batch. First batch we boiled about 50 gallons and got 1.5 gallons of syrup. Hoping for the same this time.
I'm tapped into 6 huge silver maples. They are budding pretty good, but I did a test boil last night. Happy to report "The sap is still good"
10 taps 2016
35 taps 2017 all on tubing
I'm just tapping my backyard
10gal Electric brew pot for prewarmer
1.5'x3' pan on two Blichmann propane burners
Nice! I've got a huge silver I've tapped two years in a row now, but won't tap again. I've gotten about 2 cups of sap in the last two seasons from it...can't get vac tubing to it, so it's on gravity, but my other monster silver gushes. Here's hoping our sap keeps being good!
