After doing some searching. It looks like I'll be waiting 2-3 more weeks. All the extended forecasts show it's going to stay pretty cold through Feb. Everything is cleaned and ready, just have to wait for mother nature.

Well, I made the decision to move from Buckets to Bags for this season. Going to try to make the clean up process a little easier. Washing all those buckets was exhausting. Take forever as I would run out of hot water.... Anyone have thoughts on bags versus buckets? Anything that I should look out for with Bags?

Although I never used buckets my father used 5 gal. jugs on his 70 tap operation and it was a chore to wash all those jugs. I started using the jugs also but soon found the same chore as I expanded. Like bags a lot. A lot of ice will get caught in my funnel which I then throw out which I like. Don't let them freeze full it's a pain and hard on the bags if there's a wind. Looking for a disposable tap to use with them. Trying a 45 degree clear on dealers recommendation. Some trouble with wind blowing them off and tried a washer on the tap but it was hard to get the bag holder back on. The wind blow offs were minimal though. And every year I get a few leakers. I'll have about 70 bags out this year. Dad is 88 this year and is only boiling and the neighbor is going to collect then split the syrup so he should have him wash the jugs.

I was out plowing sidewalks all Saturday and into Sunday morning. Took a long nap and the sun came out and I power washed the ATV in shorts and bare feet. But thats' what its like to live in Parker Co. I guess I be tapping around March 10 or so. Please don't be spooking the herd with talk about tapping anytime soon.
