My 3 x 8 has a 12" stack, and I have 18' high, no forced draft till I finish the concrete floor as parts are now wood and I did not want to blow hot sparks onto a wood floor. I plan to have the concrete done before another season and then go with a draft fan which i already have.
Dave Klish, I recently ordered a 2x6 wood fired evaporator from A&A Sheet Metal which I will be converting to oil fired
Now have solar, 2x6 finish pan, 5 bank 7x7 filter press, large water jacketed bottler, and tankless water heater.
Recently bought another Gingerich RO, this one was a 125, but a second membrane was added thus is a 250, like I had.
    After running a 2x3, a 2x6, 3x8 tapping from 79 taps up to 1320 all woodfired, now I'm going to a 2x6 oil fired and a 200-425 taps.

I would love to have all stainless done, I know it will cost a fortune but less now than later. 12" seems right but I will still wait for more responses

Mapleking thought they gave him too big of stack.. sure seems to be the case, 12" easier to work with.

Both Leader and King run 12" stacks on 3x8's and rule of thumb is twice the lengthof the arch
