this snow storm will knock the buds off. you should be okay for a week or two with your soft maples if you have hards they are just waking up

I never thought about the buds getting lost by the storm. It is all sleet here for now with ice building up. I am sure with that and the snow later that those buds will be gone. The long range forecast shows what could be another good couple weeks (after this mess blows over).

Its been a great week here for making syrup. The snow today just made for a good opertunity to have maple snow cones/ slushies. We look forward to having these whenever ther is fresh snow.
Maplekid, don't worry jest yet about those buds, they are just swelling a bit but have yet to open. Next year try using more hard maples and you won't need to worry so much.
