Still at it, things are froze up and this will be the last go. we are at 1800 gallons. I hope to hit 1900 but we will see, this has been a long season for us. It has been a while since we made it past the 15 of April. I hope to make it to saturday.

Called it yesterday morning, done and now the clean up starts. all tallied up ended at alittle over 1900 gallons. That is a good season for us but that last barrel won a trip to bacsoms. It tastes sweet and sour at the same time. I can't say I have ever tasted anything like it before and have tasted a lot of off flavored syrup. I have a neighbor that got a deal on some 55 plastic barrels that had body wash in them and that sap tasted terrible and only one other person could taste it out of the group so they brought me some to taste. I dont know what they did with the syrup they made after that but I told them not to sell it. Some of the neighbors thought the syrup tasted great. The after taste was perfumey and would not leave the back of your mouth. I think there is 3 families doing it together with a small ro. The idea is great but I hope they get it dialed in before some one get sick.

I got 2 woods done, the lines all washed releasers all put to bed. I have one more woods to do. I still need to clean the evaporator and pull the membranes out of the ro. I went up to the open house and spent my allowance on supplys for next year. I bought 250 h2o saddles and 30 rolls of grip 5/16. and stuff to make 800 stubby drops. I got the ro soap, defoamer and 3 stubby spout separators. At Dominion and Grimm I ran into the pruno guy and bought two of the tools that pull the high tensel wire together when it breaks. After everything is cleaned up and put away I will rip out that last 800 and replace that this summer.

Have you run stubby's before? If so what's your experience?
Remember to keep on ticking while the sap is dripping.

I have been running them since 2010-2011, I like them. I run the black straight through adaptors. I don't see the gain in the check valve adaptors with an electric releaser. I tap the adaptor in to the tree, 2 taps and the stubby gets just one tap. The cost is alittle more but you can tap fast and only have to carry a hammer and drill.
