    Default Honey Bees

One of the ~40 sugar maples we tap is next to my house. It’s a great producer as it gets sun all day and is about 40 years old. My son told me yesterday that there was a loud hum at the tree and that it was covered with honey bees. I went to look and sure enough the noise from the bees was noticeable before getting to the tree. It appeared that the bees were on every branch gathering nectar from what appeared to be blossoms. I never noticed this before. I’m glad to see honey bees in the numbers I saw. Has anyone else seen this before? Thanks

Yes , we used to keep bee's in our sugar bush . Maple is an early food source and makes great honey. I saw a few around in February this season during a warm spell..We had to stop as the bears were relentless.
