We tapped late this year (last weekend of Feb) and didn’t have our first boil until March 3rd and was worried about 10 days ago that the season would end early. This last snowstorm and the following cooler weather has been great with the increased sap flow and sugar content coming up about a half a percent, which is a lot when you’re starting close to 1%. We may actually eke out another week after this weekend in central NH. Syrup is dark as heck but still has good flavor, and it seems like the buds on the trees actually shrank a bit. I’ll keep pushing as long as I have wood to burn and syrup still has good flavor. Almost like the season is in reverse right now.
