I ran a medium gauge SS wire rope for mine. I have a steel roof and I just, from underneath used a nail very slightly larger and the wire rope diameter, and punched 2 holes, just out past the roof jack. It worked perfectly and I never detected any leaks getting thru. If you don't have a steel roof, I'd likely punch thru the outer edge of the roof jack from underneath before you install the jack.
On mine I then attached the opener wire rope at 1 side of the arch and th closer wire rope to the other side. But on mine I got a defective flip top cap that was welded in the wrong position (at a good price), so I attached the one side to the arch with just the right length of wire rope, and on the other side i had to attach the wire rope to hold the cap open. If that hadn't worked so well I was going to cut off the rull lever , reposition it and reweld it, but it was not necessary. The issue was that the lid would go too far over and I had to get up on the roof to flip it back, the way I did it solved the over travel problem.
My old 2x6 with flip cap worked perfectly, pull one rope it opened, pull the other it closed.
Dave Klish, I recently ordered a 2x6 wood fired evaporator from A&A Sheet Metal which I will be converting to oil fired
Now have solar, 2x6 finish pan, 5 bank 7x7 filter press, large water jacketed bottler, and tankless water heater.
Recently bought another Gingerich RO, this one was a 125, but a second membrane was added thus is a 250, like I had.
After running a 2x3, a 2x6, 3x8 tapping from 79 taps up to 1320 all woodfired, now I'm going to a 2x6 oil fired and a 200-425 taps.
