    Default Hobart Vs Ribbon Blender

Has anyone tried a ribbon blender for granulated sugar? The Hobart mixer method seems to be common. However, I am wondering if a ribbon blender's mechanics would work as well as the flat paddle. It would save me a trip to California and a lot of time if someone has experience with ribbon blenders and molten maple sugar.
