    Default Tapped in Weare

Tapped today - about 30 buckets.

    The flow should stop soon…

    Default Starcat

I need to update my signature. I got the Starcat last year and was really pleased. The firebox is smaller than I expected, but it’s a nice little evaporator!

    Default 2 runs

Got 2 decent runs - about 40 gallons each time. Now the challenge is to keep the sap from freezing so I can run the RO before i boil.

Rigged up a light with some foam insulation to try and keep it from freezing…

    Default So far, so good

I plan to run the sap through the RO tomorrow and boil Sunday.

My little sap blanket fort is working out well. There’s a skim of ice on each barrel but they haven’t frozen solid. Hopefully it’ll stay that way with the cold overnight temps and I can RO tomorrow when it’s a little warmer.

I’ve had a few runs, and done a few days of boiling. I’ve got about 4 gallons finished and looking at another 80 to 100 gallons of sap. I’m almost out of wood, so we’ll probably collect today and then pull the taps after the storm.
