    Default Trempealeau County

Tapped trees a month early this year based on weather reports, and I’m glad I did. I’m still 2 weeks away from when I tapped last year and I’ve already matched my total 2023 production. Get a break the next couple days to catch up and then it looks like good flowing weather again!

Upgraded from concrete blocks to a Smoky Lake Dauntless arch and can’t believe the difference! So much faster to heat up and shut down, and uses a lot less wood to boot.

So did you buy a flat pan or did you buy the flue and syrup pan option?
    2004 - 2012 2x3 flat pan 25 to 60 taps
    2012 2x3 new divided pan w/draw off 55 taps
    2018 - didn't boil surgery - bought new evaporator
2019 new SML 2x4 raised flue high output evap. 65 taps
    made 17 gal. syrup
    2020 - only put out 53 taps - made 16.25 ga.l syrup
    2021 - Didn't work out
    2022 - 25 taps on bags / 8 taps on 3/16's line - late start

I bought the flat pan and lid when I was cooking on blocks and will stick with that setup for the time being. The hybrid pan looks neat, though.
