    Wow is anyone else have a horrible time trying to filter syrup this year the sand is crazy New papers filter in press a few gallons and it plugs up .

    Filtering is harder this year. If your press plugs up quickly then try adding more DE to each batch of syrup you are filtering. With higher sugar sand, it helps keep the syrup flowing.

    My first Day filtered a bit hard but I think I just got a little too heavy, but I've been able to get atleast 20 gallons through my 5 frame press every time. I do use alot of DE, sometimes I'll say to myself that I am over doing it on the DE, but its relatively cheap and is easier than breaking down the press.

    All done hear in Campton last boil tonight , never had a year without very dark syrup until this one . Better than last year syrup totals wise but not by too much .
