Filtering is harder this year. If your press plugs up quickly then try adding more DE to each batch of syrup you are filtering. With higher sugar sand, it helps keep the syrup flowing.
Sugaring for 45+ years
New Sugarhouse 14'x32'
New to Me Algier 2'x8' wood fired evaporator
2022 added a used RB25 RO Bucket
250 mostly Sugar Maples, 15% Soft Maples. Currently,(110on 3/16" and 125 on Shurflo 4008 vacuum, 15 gravity), (16,000 before being disabled)
1947 Farmall H and Wagon with gathering tank
2012 Kubota with forks to move wood around
My first Day filtered a bit hard but I think I just got a little too heavy, but I've been able to get atleast 20 gallons through my 5 frame press every time. I do use alot of DE, sometimes I'll say to myself that I am over doing it on the DE, but its relatively cheap and is easier than breaking down the press.
