Hey all,
Couldn’t boil last year, so sold my evaporator. Looking for a new one for the upcoming season. I usually do between 30-50 taps. Recommendations?

You can you thru here in the classified ads or check with a local maple supply store. Smoky Lake makes a real nice hobby evaporator in either the starcat or dauntlas model. The big problem you are going to have right now is that most of the suppliers are backed up and may not be able to provide anything for the upcoming season.
2004 - 2012 2x3 flat pan 25 to 60 taps
2012 2x3 new divided pan w/draw off 55 taps
2018 - didn't boil surgery - bought new evaporator
2019 new SML 2x4 raised flue high output evap. 65 taps
made 17 gal. syrup
2020 - only put out 53 taps - made 16.25 ga.l syrup
2021 - Didn't work out
2022 - 25 taps on bags / 8 taps on 3/16's line - late start
Bascom appears to have several different hobby evaporators in stock based on their website. Not that far a drive from Weare.
On the Maple Trader Facebook group, there is an Lappiere mini pro 20x48” evaporator for sale in Woodstock, NH.

Chris,
Ditto on the Mason. Going into my 4th year on a Mason 2x4 XL. Will be over 200 taps this year, and with a single post 4x40 RO the Mason will handle these easily. Great start-up unit for low tap count and plenty of capacity for the future. Bonus is Bill Mason is an awesome guy to deal with. Recommend you drive to his shop in Maine if you buy one.
Thanks, Bill
2017 - 3 taps hanging buckets.
2018 - 32 taps on 5 gal. buckets.
2019 - New Mason 2x4 XL. 80 taps
2020 - Barn / Sugarhouse finished. 125 taps. NextGen 1x40 RO
2021 - 157 taps, 100 on 3/16 tubing w/two Shurflo set-ups, the rest on buckets
2022 - 225 taps. 175 on 3/16 tubing, rest on buckets.
2023 - 300 taps. 261 on tubing, 39 on 5 gal. buckets. Four Shurflo 12V set-ups.
2024 - 340 taps. New SL 2x4 hybrid pan. Added second 1x40 membrane to RO
Another ditto on Bill Mason, I just have the regular 2x3 and it works with my 50 taps.
I have a Mason 2x3 xl and it works great. Plus you can always count on Bill for great advice.
2022 - 60 taps, WF Mason 12x20 Finisher Bottler,
2021 - 55 taps, RO Bucket RB10, 10 gal syrup
2020 - 44 taps, WF Mason 2x3 XL, 4.3 gal syrup
2019 - 50 taps, 2-18"x24" flat pans over cinderblock arch, 4 gal syrup
2018 - 50 taps, 2-18"x24" flat pans over cinderblock arch, 3 gal syrup
2017 - 40 taps, 2-18"x24" flat pans over fire, 2 gal syrup
2016 - 25 taps, 2 12"x20" warming pans over fire, 1 gal syrup
A couple things:
1) The only way you are going to get a Mason evaporator for this year is finding a used one because according to his website, he is not accepting new orders because of a backlog right now.
2) OP has not returned to the thread to post or acknowledge the posts that have been made for advice.
