Thanks for sharing this info Tim. This is a new project that just launched with the goal of putting together a record of the remaining historic sugarhouses in Vermont. The project was started by Dori Ross from Tonewood Maple who recognized the need to document and preserve these loved symbols of the maple industry. I am also part of the project team to help guide the project and provide a historian's perspective and advice as the project moves forward. Eventually we hope to gather enough information and images to create a photo history book on Vermont sugarhouses. For the book, it is my intention to write a chapter on the history and evolution of the sugarhouse. If any one has questions or wants to communicate more about this project feel free to contact me at maplesyruphistory@gmail.com or visit the website link shared by Tim.

They do not need to be active sugarhouses. Just old. Right?

Correct. They can be abandoned, inactive, or active. Old is the key!
