    Default Lackawanna county

Still haven't had a good run here. 109 taps and haven't pulled more then 60 gallons in a day. Weather has gone from 68 degrees to 12 and everything in between. At first I thought they still weren't all thawed out but after the heat wave we were down to 23 and then back up to 42 and another overnight above freezing and still not much sap. Anyone else here in the same boat?

Runs are not strong here either. The forecast now has me a little concerned but we are not in control of that!

doocat, I only have 7 gallons made. I usually get 23-25 for the season so I am worried. If the forecast is right we might be done after this weekend. I hope it is wrong as usual!

Yes we are only at a 1/3 of a crop right now as well. I see 6 nights without a freeze right now, not good

Today my trees finally let loose. First real good run of the year but it looks like we might only get the next three days out of it. Hopefully we can find some cold nights after the coming week. Hopefully!!

For us it finally added up to not too bad a season by the end. We’ll end up with about .29 gallons syrup per tap. Last year was .3 and 2019 was .4 Better sugar than last year, but still only averaged about 1.4% cleaning the lines with calcium bleach in early winter helped us through the warm snaps without too much drying. Until now, anyway. They seem to be drying up in a hurry today. Probably will boil tomorrow for the last time. Glad to have survived what seems to be a poor weather year with a halfway decent crop. Best runs for us were 3/17-3/18 and 3/20-3/21

My last freeze was Friday night and my trees ran well Sat, Sun, Mon and still got enough for a small boil today. All finished for now but it looks like a one night freeze for Sunday night. I am going wash everything up and wait and see what happens. I tapped 2 weeks late this year because of the cold Feb so maybe the healing will be behind enough to give me some extra time. I am actually seeing a forecast for temps in the teens for Easter weekend but only God knows if they will flow if it gets that cold again. I'm way behind and willing to wait and see. I have never had trouble with buddy sap.
