Default Sell Syrup in th South

I have an opportunity to sell syrup in Georgia through a family member. He's asking for advice on what to charge for the syrup, so he can approach his boss. It'll be retail containers 1/2 pint, pint, and quart, and I'm selling those sizes for $6, $10, and $18. I figure it should sell for more than what we can up here. Does anyone know what the going rate is for syrup down there?

Probably depends upon the type of store and the clientele but I have a hard time believing that in a typical retail situation people will pay more than what they would pay at a super market for decent syrup. Or at the local Walmart or Trader Joe's (if that's a thing in Georgia).

Perhaps you could have your relation go to the local supermarket and see what they're getting.

Half way between in West Virginia. 1/2 pints 4:50, pints 8 , quarts 15 been that price for several years don’t see it going up any time soon, too much Syrup being produced! I have a friend that wholesale to stores for less than that!

Ughh. Thanks guys. I was hoping since it wasn't in maple country, maybe it'd catch a premium. He's in the Savannah area, so maybe that helps on price a bit, but we may not to be able to get where he and I both need to be to make it worthwhile.

My daughter in NC sells my syrup for the same price, $10 for a pint and $18 for a qt that I sell it for up here. I've seen it in BJ's and Walmart down there for $13.99 for a quart just like up here.

Have you got a way to get the syrup to GA without paying for shipping? Shipping is expensive and has to be taken into consideration when setting a price. My daughter takes orders and I bring it down when I go.

    Thanks Russ.

Yes, we'd try to wrap it up in a trip up/down. His parents are going down later this month and can take an order down with them. Maybe we go back down this fall for a refill. I agree, with shipping it wouldn't make sense.

I was up at Bill Mason's a few weeks ago, and he's trucking entire evaporators out west for something like $250. That's a steal!

If its a premium you're looking for shoot for Connecticut or New Jersey (high income areas). Prices in the country are pretty stable unless you can market based single source production to highly populated areas of the country that are on the high income side of things.

If you could ship a whole pallet of syrup by truck it would cost less than shipping individual cases by FedEx or similar carrier. You could probably get a rate similar to what Bill is paying.

I know when my wife takes syrup down to my son in Texas, some of the people he knows are willing to pay more than $20.00 a quart for syrup. He doesn't take it, but they sure like the real syrup.
