    The PVC valve is my tank valve because the original IBC valve broke...

    You could screw a tapered stopper on the end of a pc of pipe and use that to keep sap in the tank in freezing weather. Leave the ball valves open.

    cold out there. Try to get the tanks all empty if possible. Put sap in smaller containers if they have to be frozen. Yea its tough out there some days!

    Not the best solution, could you chip the ice with an axe and put the chunks in buckets until you get enough out of the tank so that you can move it somewhere warm to let it thaw out?
    2021 - Year one. 15 taps using 5/16" and drop tube into buckets. Homemade barrel evaporator with 2 steam trays. 4.7L syrup.
    2022. 32 taps. Added AUF.
    2023. 51 taps. Ditched the steam pans for an 18x22 flat pan.
    2024. 56 taps. Built a proper evaporator to fit the 18x22 flat pan and 1 steam pan.
