Though I have tapped as early as late Feb, for the most part I don't tap til about March 7th. That just seems to be, on average, when the temps are right. Remember that if you tap when it's below minus 5 you risk damage to your trees.
    Been tapping since 2008.
    2018 - 17 taps/7 trees...819l sap, approx 28l syrup
    2019 - 18 taps/8 trees...585l sap, 28l syrup...21:1 ratio
    2020 - 18 taps/8 trees...890.04l sap...gave away about 170l, 30l snafu'd....23l total for me from approx 690l
    2021 - 18 taps/8 trees...395l sap, 12 l syrup
    2022 - 18 taps/8 trees....7 sugars 1 red due to #2 having surgery so had the season off....582l sap, 18.5l syrup
    2023 - 18 taps/8 trees...all sugars again. 807l sap, so far approx 14l syrup

Hi all. Back at it this year with a new evaporator. Problem is I don’t have the chimney to install. Does anyone have 10” inside diameter chimney pipe for sale ? It’s a long shot but starting to get desperate....

    Happy tapping !

I got my smoke pipe from TSC.

@ Coatesy....thanks,I'm doing well. Just go with the temps in your area. You're much closer to the water so that could affect things either way. Also if your trees are on the smaller side they will thaw faster than monsters like mine.

I get my buckets from Vin Bon, a brew your own wine store. They sell their used buckets/lids. They are food grade, have seals in the lids and are clean. The one here in Richmond Hill sells for $5 for lid and bucket.

I live near cobourg abs was thinking of tapping this week. I am new to this. Is it ok if we get a day or two run and then it turns off for a few days And then Comes back ? Or better to wait for a longer run by waiting u top next week.
