Default Chinese flow meter on eBay

So I’ve started collecting parts for a single vessel ro. I was wondering if anyone has used the SHLLj branded flow meter on eBay. They seem to be cheaper but say bsp threads on the panel mount ones. How much of a pain would adapting these to npt be. Thanks

BSP threads are a British pipe thread. You can order BSP threads from many larger suppliers. I don't know if adapters from BSP to NPT are available. The two are not interchangeable. The good thing is that once you assemble the RO it is not likely to need repairs often.
Dave Klish, I recently ordered a 2x6 wood fired evaporator from A&A Sheet Metal which I will be converting to oil fired
Now have solar, 2x6 finish pan, 5 bank 7x7 filter press, large water jacketed bottler, and tankless water heater.
Recently bought another Gingerich RO, this one was a 125, but a second membrane was added thus is a 250, like I had.
    After running a 2x3, a 2x6, 3x8 tapping from 79 taps up to 1320 all woodfired, now I'm going to a 2x6 oil fired and a 200-425 taps.

They do make "adapters" BSP to NPT all different kinds, check out some of the suppliers for Hydraulics fittings they will have them. Make sure they are the stainless parts not the typical cad plated. Your probably after the higher working pressure fittings anyhow. Jay

Thanks guys. I’ll look up the adapters and see if it makes it cost effective to go one way over the other. It’s just a hobby for me so cost is a net loss on any improvements at this time.

I tried a cheap flowmeter as a replacement for one of mine that cracked. You get what you pay for. It did not read properly and leaked like crazy.
I'd get a good flowmeter. They are pretty important on an RO and one can be found for not too much. I ended up getting mine from freshwater systems.

Thanks bricklayer. That’s good to know. I found some for around $35 from one of the water companies but they want almost as much for shipping as the meter. I’ll keep looking as I’ve got time to get everything thing together for next season. Doing a lot of reading up on ro’s to try and buy the right parts.

If your building a single 4x40 membrane RO. The flowmeter or technical name “ rotometer” you’ll need is a 1/2” 0.5-5 gpm for concentrate or a 1-10 if you choose. Only time I ever hit 5 or above is when I’m washing the membrane.
For permeate you can go 0.2-2 gpm. But 0.5-5 is ok for permeate as well. Very rarely unless your concentrating hot sap will you reach over 1.25 gpm of permeate.
A good quality needle valve is important as well as
A good liquid filled 0-300 or 0-500 psi pressure gauge is another part that’s important.
