Only my third season tapping but definitely hooked. I'm pretty much a one man operation, with some help from my wife and at 64 I don't plan on expanding much further. After scouring this site for info I have some basic RO questions. I would like to be able to reduce 200 gal/day of sap to 8% or more in a half day or so. Pretty much have eliminated the smaller home water system designs as I want to boil the same day
My list so far for a single 4" * 40 design
190gph procon pump with 3/4 HP carbonator motor (trying to avoid cost of lovejoy couplings, bigger motor)
Single filmtec NF90-4040 or MES membrane (Does it matter)
Housing- Stainless steel or Pentair codeline fiberglass? does it matter?
Add recirculation line with flow meters, Can I use a ball valve for the return line on the recirculating side?

For this volume system do I need a feed pump prior to the Procon pump or is elevating the raw sap feed line higher than the HP pump sufficient, using say a 3/4" line?

Thanks for any advice. Certainly appears to be a vast knowledge base in this forum.
