I have a guzzler pump on 300 taps and i get good vacuum most time -22-25". Sometimes though the sap just cycles back and forth about 4-5' in fron of the inlet.
what causes that?

Modified D&G 18" x 7' oil fired arch
with 18"x 4' 5" drop flue back pan, and 18"x3' front pan, new 20' x 32' sugar house built in 2013, 375 taps in 2016 using a Sap Puller.
you could have something stuck in umbrella valve.

on a 2 by 7 home made evaporator and sugar shack
1st gen circa 1966 still learning stuff
I have had plastic from drilling mainline get stuck in valves. I have unions on both ends. When this happens I take sap unhook unions an tip pump up n flood inlet valve. Usually works for me. Hope this helps.
Don’t know if you’ve had the umbrellas out before, but if they were, make sure they were installed correctly.
