What to do

I recently had my right knee replaced. The plan was to go back to work on the first of Dec. then work till the end of syrup season, then get the left one replaced. Problem is there was no work for me to go back to. they laid me off instead of giving me my place back. Now I don't know if I should give up my syrup season for the second year in a row and get my left knee replaced or try and find a part time job till I get through the syrup season. What to do what to do???????? I know it is a descion that I need to make but I just need to vent.

Draw unemployment, cut fire wood make maple syrup then fix the other knee

Ron I agree with Rich. You cant miss 2 sugaring seasons in a row.

Thanks guys, but I also just put an addition on my house and I need to get it finianced before to long. I owe the money for it now on my fathers equity from his farm, and he is wanting me to get it finianced before to long. My wife does have a good job however and I might be able to get a part time job. At least that is what my first choice is right now.

Heres What I would do. I would mortgage the house and put in 2 or 3 thousand more taps and make syrup and hope for the best and the hell with a part time job, you already have one! sugaring!

Sugaring is nice, but cash to pay off loans is better. Especially if there's any chance your dad could get in deep with his farm. That's my thought. Maybe you'll luck out and be able to have the job and make syrup. I'll be putting in a good word for you.

worst case take it to your neighbor or pm me this spring if you cant make it , i have a buddy in kensington that could work something out with you he has a 5x14 with extra capacity

Thanks for all the advise. My wife already works to many hours. snf if I could get the taps in and the sap brought to the sugar house then I am sure I could get it boiled. It's working in the woods that is hard on those knees.
