Explain how that is plumbed. How can it suck oil from the pump into the moisture trap, the moisture trap only gets it's vacuum from the vacuum pump.
Dave Klish, I recently ordered a 2x6 wood fired evaporator from A&A Sheet Metal which I will be converting to oil fired
Now have solar, 2x6 finish pan, 5 bank 7x7 filter press, large water jacketed bottler, and tankless water heater.
Recently bought another Gingerich RO, this one was a 125, but a second membrane was added thus is a 250, like I had.
After running a 2x3, a 2x6, 3x8 tapping from 79 taps up to 1320 all woodfired, now I'm going to a 2x6 oil fired and a 200-425 taps.
Is the flapper on the moisture trap flapping? I had 2 times when I hit the off switch by mistake which caused the vacuum pump to run backwards a short while as the vacuum in the system reversed the pump, if the power is turned back on at that time, it ran backwards. I noticed it soon after and turned the pump off, after it quit turning I switched it back on and all was good. Is it possible something similar could have happened? Turning backwards will on a piston pump build a little pressure, thus pushing oil maybe back into the moisture trap.

For a short time I didn't have a check valve between my vac pump and moisture trap. One night after the lines froze, I shut the pump down and when I came back in the a.m. the vacuum remaining in the moisture trap and releaser sucked the oil from the vac. pump into the trap. It doesn't sound like that's your trouble, but I'd put a check valve at the pump inlet anyhow.

Are you sure that you dont have a major leak somewhere? My Airablo will make an awful racket ( I think it's the vanes chattering)and you will have no oil flow on your flood (oil dripper) lines if your system is wide open and cant build the slightest amount of vacuum. I would look for an issue at your releaser. Easy way to check is to take cover of moisture trap and engage your safety valve, if you get vacuum then your issue is upstream of the pump.

I would pull apart and check the vanes, sounds to me like yours are shot. They are a replaceable wear part. until one breaks off and grenades the whole pump. Mine did two years ago $1400 to replace the pump.

I used to have the same issues when I used cheap rubber valves. Someone turned me onto these brass check valves and they've worked flawlessly. I use them on 2 vane pumps with no issues. I got them from the local plumbing supply company. I also have a mechanical check valve on the bottom of my water trap so that once the vac drops it will empty on its own.
