    I have found very much the same thing this year. Tried 5/16” blue plastic spikes for buckets,leaked down the tree from the day we tapped until the day we pulled. Now in contrast I also tried the metal 5/16” hookless spikes for buckets,NEVER leaked a drop,so next year all buckets will be hung on 5/16” metal hookless spiles

    I put in around a 100 buckets with the 5/16" metal hookless bucket spiles. I usually get about a half dozen leakers each year. I always assumed it was the angle of my hole.
    100-110 buckets
    Leader 7.5" 3 Bank filter press (2023)
    RO Bucket RB10 (2017) upgraded to RB20 (2020)
