    Default Homemade Releaser Parts

I'd like to build a homemade vertical mechanical releaser as I don't have electric anywhere nearby. I am wondering if anyone has reasonably priced source for the following:

    10"-12" Pipe (PVC, HDPE, etc)
    1/2" clear material for lid
A good idea on the float (Pool float, PVC float, other material for float, etc)
    Source for a 1.5 - 2" flapper valve

    Thanks
    Chad

I cut them off on the large part to make it easier to clear ice. The black rubber is a uniseal. I get them on eBay also. They work well. I also use them to bring lines into my upper chamber.

How much vacuum are you running? HDPE is not as rigid as PVC and would be more susceptible to collapse, particularly when you start cutting holes in it. If you're on high vacuum then I would stay away from HDPE even though you can get some very thick wall stuff.

Here is a site that sells PVC by the foot https://flexpvc.com/cart/agora.cgi?p...waAtpFEALw_wcB
Dave Klish, I recently ordered a 2x6 wood fired evaporator from A&A Sheet Metal which I will be converting to oil fired
Now have solar, 2x6 finish pan, 5 bank 7x7 filter press, large water jacketed bottler, and tankless water heater.
Recently bought another Gingerich RO, this one was a 125, but a second membrane was added thus is a 250, like I had.
    After running a 2x3, a 2x6, 3x8 tapping from 79 taps up to 1320 all woodfired, now I'm going to a 2x6 oil fired and a 200-425 taps.

For Lexan sheet (Acrylic) or cuts I bought some online a few years ago. I just googled exactly what I wanted then shopped by cost with shipping to get it to me.

Ken, I'm running high vac. I found a local supplier of HDPE but will stay away from that. For those of you with commercial releasers, what is the blue pipe that is being used. I have never seen a releaser close up and don't have a local supplier that would carry a releaser.

Wiam, do the uniseals not leak any vacuum? It would be nice to not have to thread the fittings if possible.

Dave, do you have a homemade releaser? If so do you have any photos of it?

I have not had one leak. That is what MES uses going into their electric releasers.

Hey Chad, the blue pipe goes under a trade name of Blue Brute, or C-900. It is built for pressure lines. The green pipe is for gravity sewer and isn't designed for a significant internal pressure. Obviously it would be best to do the Blue Brute. If you lived closer by I'd find you some from the pipe pile.
    Good Luck

If you know of any contractors in your area that deal with infrastructure projects they may be a good source. They use the blue pipe for water systems and often have short pieces that get thrown out. I have acquired a few pieces like this and they were glad to get rid of them.
    12 x 16 shack with 8 x 16 addition
    2 x 6 D&G raised flue with hood
    Homebuilt releasers
    220 taps on vac
    100 plus taps on buckets
    Gast 1550 on gas engine
    HF vac pump on generator

Thanks for the replies. I think I might buy a vacuum booster tank. I can get a new one for around $300 and then I can build the remainder of the releaser. Since I can't source a cheap piece of PVC pipe or 1" thick plexiglass, buying a vacuum booster gets me the pipe and lids.
