    Default Northwest Ohio

Anyone in northwest Ohio tapping this week or tapped already? If tapped any good runs? I may tap Monday. I talked to a buddy down by Columbus and he has had some good runs. That made me very anxious.

I am not northwest, I am about halfway between Columbus and Mansfield. Tapped on Feb. 1st and had 3 real good days before it got too cold. 750 gallons on 100
taps. Then it warmed up again and gave me maybe 500 more, three days of teens and twentys and now starting today highs back up in the 40s lows below freezing
for the rest of the week. Made 26 gallons, with a pan full of close, thinking I should get it finished and be ready for another busy week.

    David,
That's a lot of boiling on a half pint! Nice job! How many GPH? do you have a R.O.?

Just finished what was in the pan and cleaned it 3 1/2 gallons more, now I am ready for what looks like a good running week.
I have never checked actual GPH but they claim 8, and I have the RO15 bucket, it seems to be a perfect size for the evap.
Lots of 12-16 hour days but I am retired, yeah right. My wood is split small and I keep her fired hot.

    Default Tapped 02-16-20

We started tapping late Sunday - only 39 taps so far - approx another 40 to go. We collected 29 + gallons in one night with just 29 taps. This year we are running a gravity line into barrels to collect from the trees across the creek. It will be interesting to see how that system works out. Hopefully no more crossing every time to get that sap. Sap is running 2.5 to 3%.
